Economic & Government Affairs Committee

EGACOur Charlottesville Regional Chamber is the region’s leading, most active business advocate, representing private enterprise, to maintain and enhance our members’ economic vitality and the economic vitality and quality of life of our Greater Charlottesville communities.

The Chamber encourages our diverse member enterprises and citizens to participate actively in public policy matters.  Our Chamber also encourages and invites our enterprises through their representatives to participate actively in our own Chamber public policy development.  The Chamber Economic & Government Affairs Committee is a leading Chamber avenue which makes public policy recommendations to the Chamber Board.  The “Code of Chamber Public Policies” represents the Chamber’s guiding principles.

Active Chamber advocacy in public policy matters of central concern to Chamber members and overall economic vitality include: Economic Growth and Opportunity; Housing Availability and Costs; Education, Workforce Development; Land Use; Career Job Retention and Creation; Business Development; Affordable and Accessible Health Care; Adequate, Safe, and Affordable Water Supply, Agribusiness; Enhanced Higher Education Access and Research; and, myriad other public policy matters of importance.
