Leaders Lab Class of 2024 Graduation

The Leaders Lab of Greater Charlottesville celebrated the completion of its second year with a graduation ceremony at Hillsdale Conference Center.

During the final session, cohort members shared what they most appreciated about the Leaders Lab experience:

“Tools for community engagement and building consensus”

“Conflict resolution and negotiation”

“The mindfulness exercises in each session”

“Self-awareness and using our own strengths”

“The diversity of the group”

“Hearing firsthand from community leaders”

“Learning about the history of Charlottesville”

Many participants mentioned visiting and learning about the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers at UVA was a highlight. The memorial is very moving, and the group had a wonderful tour with DeTeasa Gathers. In addition to learning about the history of enslaved communities at UVA, the cohort also learned about the long community process that led to the building of the memorial, as well as the ongoing work by the Descendants of Enslaved Communities at UVA.
