Chamber Spotlight: The Renovation of Hollymead House
Pam and William Calary are wrapping up several years of renovation at Hollymead House, their bed and breakfast in Charlottesville. Now in its third year of business, the elegant and comfortable surroundings of the house now reflects the aesthetic of its owners.
And, despite the claim that they’d never seen it before purchasing, at least 2 days were spent looking and re-looking. The couple felt strongly that they could bring the current restaurant and inn back to resemble a home and gracious hospitality. That’s what they strived for.
Today, the 6 bedroom inn offers breakfast to its overnight guests, small special events for the community such a watercolor and cut flowers classes and an annual Equestrian Showcase held in November. “We love partnering with local businesses and non-profits to showcase their talents and treasures.”
An unexpected result? They’ve become a destination for wedding guests, and boarding school high school graduations along with inquiries for business meetings, retreats and corporate travelers. “We welcome all” - and we think the bar/lounge offers yet another respite after a long day of sightseeing or work.
