What does your organization do?
I help organizations find and share their stories in a compelling manner to increase revenue. Our brain transforms words into images which cements them in our memory. Add emotion and you’ve got a home run.

What is unique about your organization and the work you do in our community?
I know that we all have a story to tell. Often, we just need someone to listen. It is an honor and privilege to not only hear someone's story, but to also share it. My company name, The Heart of Storytelling, is a representation of what I hold near and dear.

What was your first job?
I was a famous character at a theme park in Orlando. Hint: I had big ears and my name was originally Mortimer.

How did you choose the field you're in?
I LOVE people. I love hearing their stories. I love sharing their stories. Words matter. As a storyteller, I have the honor of helping others to live and reach their goals through written and spoken word. I have been told that connecting with others and storytelling are my superpowers. After hearing it enough, I believe it. My field chose me and I am called to help others to live their authentic lives and step into joy.

What is one of your favorite nonprofits to volunteer with or support, and why is it important to you?
I am the Chair of the Marketing and Communications Subcommittee for the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC) Gala. It is the perfect way for me to contribute to our growing and innovative tech ecosystem while utilizing my skills. CBIC, like the Chamber, is an important part of this thriving community.

What is your favorite quote or piece of advice?
I was in a very bad car accident in February 2021. I have a traumatic brain injury as a result and I could have died. That was the impetus for me forming The Heart of Storytelling. I knew, while sitting in the ambulance with blood dripping down my neck, that I needed to follow my passions and step into joy. The following quote has always been on my board and captures my life philosophy. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ― H. Jackson Brown Jr., P.S. I Love You

What do you like about being a Chamber member?
I have made lifelong connections through the Chamber. It is THE place to network, grow and learn. The work of the Chamber is a critical and vital part of our business ecosystem and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this dynamic organization.
