Senior Care Placement, Advocacy, Consulting, Certified Advisor, Certified Dementia Practitioner.
What is unique about your organization and the work you do in our community?
I work closely with families to find their best options for their transition in care needs. I show all options and strategies unique to the individual and help implement the transition when ready.
What was your first job?
Hospital Administrator
How did you choose the field you're in?
I love the challenge of taking the burden from families in life’s changes and medical challenges. I have personal and professional experience in navigating the complexities of the healthcare system.
What career highlight or accomplishment are you most proud of?
Becoming a Dementia Practitioner. Advocating for individuals that are suffering from Dementia and are lost in the medical support system.
What's your favorite thing about the Charlottesville area?
Great resources to pull from in order to meet the needs of my clients.
What do you believe is most important for the future of our region?
Collaboration and community support with trusted individuals with compassion and the commitment to service the community.
What is one of your favorite local businesses, and why?
All Blessings Flow. They arrange for much needed DME transfer from contributors to those that need the medical equipment.
What is one of your favorite nonprofits to volunteer with or support, and why is it important to you?
Alzheimer’s Association. I support multiple locations. Raising funds and awareness for those suffering with Dementia. I also assist the local Kiwanis organization as well.
How do you like to spend your days off?
I have two Grandchildren whom I watch whenever possible as well as family time with my husband and grown children. I am primary caregiver and advocate for my mother as well. Busy girl!
What book, TV show or podcast would you recommend, and why?
I will always love the Narnia series of books. I find hidden biblical implications with each read.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Rise Up!
What is your favorite quote or piece of advice?
Find each day's blessings. Being grateful sets the time for finding each blessing throughout the day.
What else would you like to tell us about yourself and your work?
When I engage with families, they become my family. I am the person you call when you are afraid to admit to your struggles and I will help you through the challenges ahead.
