The Battle to the Ballot Box
Leadership Charlottesville Alumni Association (LCAA) is doing its part to ensure every citizen who can vote in the upcoming presidential election will do so without hindrance or delay.
For their ‘Courageous Conversations’ event on September 23, the alumni association hosted James Heilman with the Albemarle County Board of Elections and Professor Jalane Schmidt with the University of Virginia to discuss the many battles citizens are facing just to get to the ballot box, including a pandemic, voter suppression and intimidation, apathy, misinformation and more. Important voting dates were shared as well as information on what we as leaders individually and collectively can do to help improve our elections and become engaged with our local municipalities.
