Eleven CAAR Members Among the 2017 Virginia REALTORS® Award Winners

The Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS® (CAAR) proudly shares that eleven CAAR members were among the 2017 Virginia REALTORS® (VR) award winners. The awards ceremony took place at the Installation and Awards Banquet in conjunction with the VR 2017 Annual Convention on Wednesday, October 4th at the Hotel Roanoke.

*Members who were not able to attend the VR 2017 Annual Convention were honored during the October General Membership Meeting on Thursday, October 12th at the UVA Darden School of Business.

The Virginia REALTOR® of the Year Award is presented to professionals who have made proven contributions to the real estate industry through both personal and professional achievement and outstanding volunteerism. Pat Sury of Montague Miller & Co. – Westfield received the 2017 Virginia REALTOR® of the Year.

The Virginia REALTOR® Hall of Fame honors Virginia REALTORS® who have made extraordinary and distinguished contributions to the real estate profession and markets in Virginia over a period of at least 25 years. Pat Jensen of Real Estate III – North was inducted posthumously into the Virginia REALTOR® Hall of Fame, honoring her remarkable legacy.

The Code of Ethics Leadership Award is presented to an individual REALTOR® member who exhibits leadership and knowledge of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, arbitration and/or professional standards, and who is known to share such information with other real estate professionals; has made presentations on Ethics before their own association, other associations, or before civic and community groups; and who has participated in local, state, or national association grievance, professional standards, arbitration, or ethics related activities; has taught courses in REALTOR® ethics, either paid or voluntary. Rives Bailey of Montague Miller & Co. – Westfield received the 2017 Code of Ethics Leadership Award.

Created in 1950, the honorary fraternity of Omega Tau Rho is awarded by state and local Associations of REALTORS® to members and others that serve the REALTOR® organization. Once a medallion is awarded, the recipient is a member for life. This award recognizes exemplary dedication and service, and the high esteem in which recipients are held by fellow members of the REALTOR® organization. The following members received the Omega Tau Rho award:  Sandy Huffman of Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®; Keith Knight*of Real Estate III – North; Gaby Hall of ERA Bill May Realty Co.; Ginny Nelson*of Real Estate III – North; Phyllis Novotny* of Roy Wheeler Realty Co. – Edman; Sue Plaskon* of Long & Foster – Old Ivy; Linda Stanton of ERA Bill May Realty Co.; and Tiffany Vann* of Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®.
