Community Update on McIntire Park Access and CAT Detours for August 10-12, 2018

Please Follow #ResilientCville for Updates
In the interest of public safety, the City of Charlottesville is adjusting City operations, city-sponsored events, vehicular traffic, and parking restrictions for the weekend of August 10-12, 2018. These changes include the closing of all staffed Charlottesville Parks & Recreation facilities on Saturday and Sunday August 11-12. Also, the western portion of McIntire Park will be closed to vehicular traffic from the 250 Bypass and Rugby Ave. effective 6 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018. A full list of adjustments is available here.
In addition, the Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will have detours for most of its service routes starting from 6:00 PM on Friday, August 10 and lasting through the end of service on Sunday, August 12. For a complete list of these changes, click here.
Albemarle County is working closely with the City of Charlottesville, the University of Virginia, Virginia State Police, and other state officials to preserve safety and inform the community of the steps we are taking collectively in preparation for the anniversary of last year’s events.
As August 10-12, 2018 draws closer, changes to these plans may become necessary. In addition to public safety information, a web page has been launched and contains a calendar of community events and resources on mental health and wellness.
