The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is an active partner in Governor Robert McDonnell’s "Governor’s Bowl" food drive which hopes to increase donations of food and funds to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and other food banks throughout Virginia, beginning on May 28th through July 4th. The inaugural "Governor’s Bowl" will raise food and funds to Virginia’s food banks during the slow summer months. In a release by sent by the Governor’s office, Governor McDonnell said, "The ‘Governor’s Bowl’ is a unique opportunity to bring large corporations, small businesses and public sector employees together for a cause that everyone can agree with – and that is combating hunger in our communities." "This is an important opportunity for our Chamber and our Chamber member enterprises to help the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank serve our neighbors in need," stated Patricia L. Cluff, Associate Vice President of the University of Virginia Health System, who serves as the 2012 Chair of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber Board of Directors. At the close of the "Governor’s Bowl", Governor McDonnell will deliver awards to the three winning Chambers of Commerce. These Chambers will be grouped into categories: small, medium and large-sized. The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, with 900 member enterprises, is a "medium" size Chamber. Firms wishing to join in the "Governor’s Bowl" food drive can register on-line at:
