Chamber Spotlight: Charlottesville EV Charging Grant
City offers funding to local businesses to install Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers
Electric vehicle adoption has increased rapidly within Charlottesville and surrounding communities, and the availability of reliable public charging locations is essential to continued growth in the EV market.
In recognition of the increasing importance of publicly available charging, Charlottesville has relaunched its EV Charging Grant Program, with increased funding amounts to further incentivize deployment of new charging stations within the City.
Providing publicly accessible charging can provide many benefits to businesses, by increasing foot traffic, enhancing brand reputation, or improving employee retention. Grant amounts cover up to $4,000 for Level 2 charger installation, and up to $10,000 for DCFC installation, which can be combined with any available federal or utility incentives.
In order to maximize economic benefits to the community, preference is given to charging locations located near retail and commercial sites, allowing EV drivers to patronize local establishments while charging their vehicles.
