The Grove Dedication

Grove Dedication (7)

Celebrating Legends in a Legendary Place

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce joined The Grove Committee for a beautiful dedication ceremony of The Grove Monument on May 31, 2024. Held beneath the canopy of 150-year-old oak trees in a quiet area of McIntire Park East, the ceremony honored past and present leaders who have been recognized by the Chamber for their civic and business leadership.

Charlottesville Mayor Juandiego Wade, who received the Chamber's highest award in 2019, welcomed community members to the dedication ceremony.

Penny Van Yahres, member of The Grove Committee and relative of Mitch Van Yahres, the first recipient of the Chamber's annual business leadership award (1975), shared highlights of the achievements of past award recipients. This monument to community leadership was envisioned and built by a group of private citizens in partnership with the Chamber and the City of Charlottesville.

Thank you to The Daily Progress, Cville Right Now, CBS19, 29news, and 3WV Rocks for covering the event.
