Women’s History Month: Debbie Kaplan
"I get to tell others about something that I am passionate about and hopefully that can make them passionate about helping others too."

What kind of work do you do?
Fundraising and Volunteer Coordination
What goals and values motivate your work?
I genuinely care about people, and I have the best job in the world for me. I get to tell others about something that I am passionate about and hopefully that can make them passionate about helping others too. Knowing that the more I can accomplish makes a tough road a little easier for a family with a sick child is all the motivation I could ever need!
Tell us about a woman whose work you admire. How does she inspire you?
I really admire Carolyn Cullen. She left an industry that was not progressing and joined a team that truly values all that she brings to the table and she is right there with a helpful hand for other women trying to move up their own career ladders. She is inspirational and a downright nice person- plus she is funny to boot!
What’s your advice for young women starting their careers?
Really take your time to interview your prospective employers. I feel like early on I was so focused on 'getting the job' that I wasn't always as knowledgeable as I should have been about where I was planning on taking my talents!
Based on your experiences, what can workplaces do to better support women’s success?
It takes effort- lead by example- support people- really give accolades to co-workers that support others- make that the shining example.
