Chamber Defense Affairs Committee May 27, 2021 - Memorial Day Commemoration

In recognition of Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who have died serving in the U.S. military. Gold Star family members Khizr Khan and COL (Ret) Bob Hess spoke about commemorating the memory of their sons and the importance of honoring those that serve.

Charlottesville residents Khizr and Ghazala Khan are the parents of United States Army Captain Humayun Khan, who was killed in 2004 during the Iraq War.

Retired Army Aviation officer Bob Hess and his wife, Laura, are the parents of United States Army First Lieutenant Robert "RJ" Hess, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2013.
